Are you a practicing adult Catholic seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation?
The Archdiocese of New York will be holding an Adult Confirmation Program at Our Lady of Victory (60 William Street) in Lower Manhattan starting September 20. There will be eight sessions held on Tuesday evenings 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered on Tuesday, November 22 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Additional sessions and locations are available throughout the coming year. Your pastor’s permission is required for participation in the Adult Confirmation Program.
The Archdiocesan Adult Confirmation Program is designed for practicing adults (18+) Catholics, who have been baptized, have received their First Holy Communion and have been educated in the Catholic faith through Catholic schools or religious education programs.
The Program will present an overview of the essentials of the Catholic faith, focusing on immediate reception of catechesis for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. This is a program of adult faith formation that combines presentations, group discussion, reflection and prayer. The sessions will cover Sacred Scripture and Tradition, the Creed, prayer, spirituality, the Church, Catholic social teaching and the meaning of the sacrament of Confirmation.
Application for Adult Confirmation
This program is not for adults who are unbaptized, or baptized but un-catechized (not practicing Catholics), who would benefit from participation in the Parish’s RCIA process.
