The liturgy is the primary and indispensable source from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian Spirit. (Sacrosanctum Concilium 14) The revised General Instruction of the Roman Missal notes that “ … entire celebration is planned in such a way that it leads to a conscious, active and full participation of the faithful both in body and mind” (No. 18).
We have a small but consistent group of volunteers in the parish who work hard with our pastor to ensure that our liturgy lives up to the expectations of the General Instruction. New volunteers are always very much welcome!
The Liturgy Committee’s primary responsibilities are (I) to coordinate the planning and scheduling of the liturgical celebrations for seasonal and special celebrations to ensure that services run smoothly; (II) to coordinate, support and train all liturgical ministries in the parish, i.e. readers, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, lectors, ushers, greeters, cantors, musicians, etc. and (III) to ensure compliance with the liturgical directives, guidelines, norms and policies of the parish, the Archdiocese, and the Church.
