Inspiring Reports from 40 Days for Life:
Good news #1: We had another turnaround on Tuesday! After being closed all last weekend for the MLK holiday, Planned Parenthood was back open for business. A woman was heading into the clinic for a scheduled abortion but stopped to speak with one of the sidewalk counselors outside. She was a faith-filled woman who converted to Christianity after having a previous abortion, but felt pressured to abort again. She had been praying for a sign that someone would step up and support her. The sidewalk counselor connected her with the Sisters of Life, who spoke with her for 3 hours. She decided not to go in for the abortion and felt at peace with her decision. Her faith had saved her and her baby.
Good news #2: This Saturday morning we had a great crowd at the prayer vigil and several sidewalk counselors outside Planned Parenthood. One of the sidewalk counselors approached a woman who was on her way in for an abortion. After speaking for a bit, the counselor asked her what she thought the baby was. She said a girl, and even had a name picked out. But she was still going in for the abortion! Later on, she came back out. Planned Parenthood had turned her away because of a heart issue. The sidewalk counselor told her this was no coincidence, and brought her over to the Sisters of Life who had come to pray at the vigil that morning. Whether you call it a turnaround, or a turn-away, it's a life saved!
Good news #3: While praying this afternoon, a gentleman came up to us and thanked us for being out there. Three years ago, he was in a casual relationship with a woman and she got pregnant. They thought about abortion, but decided to have the baby. He said it was the best decision he ever made. Then he made the sign of the cross, and pulled out his phone to show us a picture of his gorgeous 3-year-old daughter.
